Are you aged 6-21 years and mad about horses? If so this is the club for you!
The Pony Club centre at Trent Park allows children the opportunity to complete the many certificates and achievement badges the Pony Club has on offer.
The joining fee is £61, i.e. £25 to Trent Park and £36 to Pony Club UK. This is an annual fee to join the club.
We offer different Pony Club Sessions:
Monthly Club Nights
The children attend one Friday per month. They are split into ability groups with different abilities riding on different Fridays of the month. As a general rule novice riders ride on 1st Friday, intermediate riders on 2nd Friday and advanced riders on 3rd Friday. The children have a 45 minute riding session and a 45 minute stable management sesion with extra time allocated for tack cleaning, feeding and putting ponies to bed. During the stable management the children work towards the many badges that the Pony Club offers. Details of these can be found on the Pony Club website www.pcuk.org. Riding activities vary month to month. These sessions cost £50. Children must be trotting independently to join these sessions.
Weekend Test Training
These courses run on a Saturday from either 9am to 11.30am, 1.30 to 3.30pm or 3.30 to 5.30pm, and on a Sunday afternoon 1.30 to 3.30 or 3.30 to 5.30pm. The time of the course depends on which Pony Club test your child is working towards. We endeavour to fulfil time requests but are unable to guarantee we will be able to do so. Each course is 12 weeks and starts shortly after the start of each school term. Each session includes a 45 minute riding lesson (plus 15 minutes for untacking & tack cleaning) and a one hour stable management session. The children work towards the many Pony Club tests that are on offer. They are assessed shortly after the end of the 12 week course if their instructors feel they are ready. Details of the tests can also be found on the Pony Club website. Courses cost £600, payable in full on booking.
We recommend that children have at least 5 regular beginners lessons prior to joining the courses as it is a big financial commitment and it is essential to ensure they enjoy riding first. Please follow the link on our website to the booking system to schedule these lessons. You will need to create an account and add your child as a rider before you can book.
Pony Club Day Camps
These are currently running from 2pm to 6pm, with different levels on each day. The afternoon includes 2x 45 minute riding sessions, catching in/turning out in the field, grooming, tack cleaning, skipping out, haying & watering. The cost of these ‘Own a Pony’ afternoons is £125. Maximum 5 per group.
Depending on the coronavirus situation, we may go back to our full day Pony Club Day Camps from October half term. These days run from 9am to 5.30pm. Each day includes 3x 45 minute riding sessions, 3x 60 minute badge training & assessment. The price and exact format of these days are still to be confirmed.
It is not compulsory to join all Pony Club sessions, however, if signing up for a course you must attend a minimum of 9/12 sessions. In the application pack is a form that you use to make it clear which sessions your child will attend. Some children attend all sessions. Some just attend Fridays or /and school holidays.
